Skill Builder Series

Watch this page for links to all of the Skill Builder Series posts by Piecemeal Quilts and Grey Cat Quilts! The Series is intended to help a brand new quilter learn the techniques and skills starting with the most basic information and progressing through more difficult tasks. If you don’t have access to a class, this is a great place to start!

As part of the Skill Builder Series, we have created a Test Your Skills Sampler, beginning September 2011. Click here for an index of posts.

If you’d like to post a button on your blog, copy the code below:

I’ve changed the order the links are listed below so they follow a more logical progression. If you’re just learning to quilt, start at the top and work your way through the list.

I just found this, thanks to a link on TQS forums.

I’m a new quilter, working now on my 1st two quilts. Yes, 2 going at once. One top is nearly done, the other is about halfway. Sort of. One is a simple log cabin, hopefully not so inaccurate as to be what you lovingly termed “adventurous”! :) the other is a diary quilt, using different patterns from Mimi Dietrich’s diary quilt book.

I’m always surprised at what I do and later people tell me it’s hard. I just try it, and go with it, and try again until I get it right.

    Oh, and I”m hand piecing…..

Anyway, loved your series, and have bookmarked the skill builder links so I can learn some stuff!

I shared your series the other day on a quilting board that I go to all the time. Hope you don’t mind. :) This is a wonderful series and I wanted to share it with my quilting friends. Thanking for making this available to us. :)

I am so happy to have found this blog site. Ya’ll have done a wonderful job of teaching techniques. I have a small group 4-8 young women the meet every Tuesday to learn quilting. Do we have permission to use this tutorial for class time ? We will be sure to post are finished projects !!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts! I try to reply to every comment, but sometimes it takes a few days. And sometimes, well... it has been known to drop off the radar. I'm easily distracted by shiny things.
